A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world.

– Oscar Wilde, 1888

I think a lot about the moon.  How it constantly waxes and wanes, just like my life with its highs and lows.  I like to think of myself as having been born under a new moon.  Then, in those uncertain days when I was searching for love, I guess the moon would have been a crescent.  It was probably about a half-moon when I got married.  Now that I’m alone, do I warrant a full moon?  Have I finally overcome my weaknesses and grown up?  I’m heading off along a new path in life, but if it turns out to be a dead end, I guess I can start over with the next new moon.

Above his head the moon burned a silver hole in the night, and the stars surrounded it like fire-elves.
